A-A-A-S (Art Alliance Arctic South) is a newly formed artist collective born out of a vibrant artist community scattered across a vast expanse of Northern Scandinavia. A-A-A-S are supported by The Nordic Culture Fund in the initiative Mapping the twist, a project enabling knowledge exchange between artists and curators on the 63rd latitude and above, and the dissemination of emerging art from the area.
We are joined by Ele Carpenter. Carpenter is a curator, a Professor of Interdisciplinary Art & Culture and the director of UmArts- the new Research Centre for Architecture, Design and the Arts at Umeå University. The centre aims to create an exciting interdisciplinary arts research environment in the visual arts, architecture, design, and creative studies, in partnership with Bildmuseet and within the regional context of Northern Sweden as well as nationally and internationally.
